About the Book:About the Author: David Shapiro is a professor of economics, demography, and women’s studies at Pennsylvania State University and coauthor of The Agricultural Development of Zaire. B. Oleko Tambashe was an associate professor of demography at the University of Kinshasa and is currently a research associate professor in the Department of International Healthy and Development at Tulane University. For the past several years he has worked for the USAID-funded project Family Health and AIDS in West and Central Africa.
